THE POSITION AND THE DETAILS:

The Outbound Sales Associate effectively develops new business and retains existing customers within company growth and profitability objectives. Personally gets new business accounts by actively identifying and contacting new prospects, and follows up on related opportunities. The Sales Associate is also responsible for promoting products to expand current business relationships, and solicits input on other needs of the client.

This position supports other sales team members as needed, and is the customer’s liaison with Company production and quality functions. They set the customer’s expectation regarding delivery timing, quality and other requirements, and readily assists to clarify any issues prior to order release.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

  1. Effectively qualifies prospects or business leads and manages relationships with existing clients.
  2. Develops clear and effective sales presentations for current and prospective customers.
  3. Travels to visit clients and participate in promotional events, tradeshows, etc.
  4. Researches product categories for growth, and acts as a brand ambassador at industry and market functions.
  5. Provides timely reporting on sales and business development activities as required.
  6. Assists sales team with order entry or order review, sampling approvals and post-sales support.
  7. Interacts with staff & customers with professionalism, mutual respect and integrity.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
  9. Ability to call clients and follow up and present offerings.
  10. Keeps clients up to date on where they are within the sales process.
  11. Provides timely responses to customers and vendors.
  12. Supports other teams as needed.
  13. Ability to communicate cross-functionally.
  14. Expertise in client relationship management.
  15. Ability to meet and exceed quota with a proven track record of doing so (references will be checked).
  16. Experience account mapping.
  17. Must be able to own the entire sales cycle from open to close.
  18. Communicates with the team any issues.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. 3-5 years of experience in “outside” business to business sales experience in the food industry is preferred.
  2. Must be a self-starter with strong organizational, multi-tasking and negotiation skills.
  3. STRONG ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS!!!!!! Yes, it is that important.
  4. Able to work both independently and within a customer-focused team environment.
  5. Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Demonstrates initiative, problem-solving skills; and a sense of urgency to meet customer needs.
  7. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in work experience.
  8. Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and sales or inventory database systems.
  9. Experience using QuickBooks Enterprise and ERP system.

OTHER:

  • Applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, stand, turn, or squat as necessary and operate office equipment.
  • Frequently lifts office items or product samples up to 10 lbs and occasionally lifts up to 35 lbs.

The position offers a competitive salary and excellent incentive program. Company-sponsored Health Insurance available after 90 days.
