Job Description

The position will also be responsible for deepening relationships with EU based regulators including but not limited to the ECB, ESMA, EBA, and the European Systemic Risk Board. The position will be based in Frankfurt. The role would require regular travels, primarily to London and EU countries (approximately 25% of the time).

As a Vice President within our EMEA Regulatory Affairs team, you will support regulatory policy engagement in the region. You will act as a member of the EMEA Regulatory Affairs team, being responsible for regulatory policy analysis and advocacy for the EMEA region and will provide leadership and analysis on regulatory policy topics such as prudential, retail and digital regulatory initiatives. You will be a regulatory policy professional, contributing to a range of advocacy efforts on priority EU and UK regulatory policy dossiers that impact the firm. You will work closely with the EMEA Regulatory Affairs team and will also partner extensively with Regulatory Affairs colleagues in the U.S. and APAC to strategically develop, pursue and execute regulatory policy analysis and advocacy objectives for the Firm.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Identify and monitor regulatory policy developments. Monitor key EU and UK (e.g. ESMA, EC, FCA, HMT) and international releases (e.g. IOSCO) on a number of markets and other related policy issues.
  2. Provide insights, updates, and potential business impact analysis of these developments on the Firm.
  3. Advise our Lines of Business (LOBs) and other functions on the implications of key policies and regulations, including at firmwide and legal-entity levels, to drive consistent interpretation and execution of requirements.
  4. Develop positions and advocacy strategies on proposed regulatory policies and lead engagement with trade associations, policymakers, regulators and other stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  5. Represent the Firm's views in discussions with regulators, legislators and other appropriate external stakeholders.
  6. Produce quantitative and qualitative analysis in support of regulatory policy positions.
  7. Deliver verbal and written briefings and analyses on complex topics to a wide range of internal stakeholders, including senior management.
  8. Prepare executive level presentations for senior leaders to use with both internal and external stakeholders on a range of regulatory policy issues in the region.
  9. Build relationships and work with a wide range of internal stakeholders (LOBs, compliance, legal, government affairs, finance, and global partners in the Regulatory Affairs function) in determining the firm's views on proposals and the appropriate mechanism for advocacy/response.
  10. Develop and engage relationships with external stakeholders, including identifying and building relationships with regulators, peer firms, and trade and industry bodies.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  1. Extensive experience in financial services government policy, financial regulation, consulting or a related role.
  2. Expert knowledge of financial services regulation and public policy context and demonstrated experience with EU regulatory policy issues.
  3. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and ability to effectively engage senior stakeholders in English and German.
  4. Ease working across a range of complex issues; ability to learn new topics quickly and move between subjects.
  5. Strong time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects and time sensitive deliverables.
  6. Advanced technical skills in Word and PowerPoint.
  7. Strong initiative, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking.
  8. Highest level of integrity and professionalism.
