As a Global Process Safety Officer EHS (m/f/*), you will have the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most innovative minds around the world. You will make an impact by:
- Providing leadership and strategic direction for process safety to achieve sustained safety performance improvements globally.
- Improving and refining process safety standards, including training, tools, communication, and audit requirements for topics such as mechanical integrity, process safety information, and facility siting, while guiding the implementation of process safety expectations.
- Leading and defining requirements for process safety and hazard assessment reviews, including LOPA scenarios, reactive chemical scenarios, and management of change requests.
- Reviewing, supporting, and approving process safety assessment strategies for HAZOP, LOPA, etc.
- Reviewing and approving process safety technology to mitigate risks, partnering with manufacturing technology leadership, and developing a program for process safety reviews and scope approvals for CAPEX projects.
- Leading incident investigations, reviewing root causes of safety incidents and near misses, ensuring action items are completed, documented, and learnings are shared across facilities.
- Leading or participating in global process safety audits.
- Leading internal process safety networks to connect and coach SMEs globally and facilitate PHA reviews for new leaders, ensuring understanding of risks in line with roles and responsibilities.
- Collaborating across EHS teams, operations, engineering, R&D, legal, occupational health, and external stakeholders to drive safety performance and share best practices.
- Fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, attention to detail, and compliance, promoting open communication and risk reduction.
- Leading external benchmarking and trade association engagement to adopt innovative techniques and technologies for safety improvements.
Your Skills And Expertise
To succeed from day one, 3M requires (at minimum):
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or science.
- Fundamental process safety experience in various environments (private, public, government, military).
Additional qualifications that could enhance your success include:
- Supervisory or management experience.
- Expertise in hazard assessment tools, risk control programs, and process technology hazards.
- Experience with global, regional, or state safety regulations and risk strategies.
- Strategic thinking, detail orientation, communication skills (multilingual a plus), and project management abilities.
- Experience in process engineering, design engineering, or manufacturing.
- Advanced knowledge in EHS disciplines and relevant certifications such as PE, CSP, CIH, or QEP.
Travel: Up to 30% domestic/international travel may be required.
