Location: Can be home office based, in Western or Eastern Europe. Ideally, you live in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Romania, or Croatia.

We are seeking a Savoury, Culinary, and Meat Application Technologist for an international Food Ingredients Distributor operating in Europe and Africa. The role involves expertise in savory dishes, snacks, sausages, hams, injected meats, fish products, spreads, and plant-based alternatives.

The Application Technologist serves as an expert in both theoretical and practical aspects of specific application areas, playing a key role in identifying market trends, developing recipes, concepts, and campaigns, exploring new ingredients, and conducting application training and client seminars. Acts as the primary contact for Technical Sales Managers needing application support for key projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Technical Support and Development: Develop concepts, campaigns, and recipes using a wide range of ingredients, tailored to local preferences. Provide technical support to enhance service levels and deliver value.
  2. Training and Knowledge Sharing: Design and conduct training programs, collaborate on global trends, document learnings, and create value propositions for ingredients.
  3. Client Interaction and Trials: Design trial protocols, support client visits, conduct trials at client facilities, and collaborate with sales teams for technical support.
  4. Supplier and Regulatory Engagement: Engage with suppliers’ laboratories, assess new ingredients, and stay updated on EU regulatory and labeling requirements.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Food Technology or a related field with 5+ years of experience, or vocational certification with 20+ years of experience in product development.
  • Deep technological expertise in application areas within relevant segments.
  • Proven ability to design and execute complex experiments.
  • Solution-oriented mindset and experience working with value-added ingredients.
  • Creative, innovative thinking, strong communication skills, proactive, analytical, and supportive approach.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 60%, including regular presence in laboratories.

*We are also looking for a second Technologist for the Bakery & Confectionery segment, involving applications like chocolate, coatings, baked goods, bakery enzymes, confectionery, glazes, fillings, and bars.*
