The primary research goal of the Institute of Diabetes Research and Metabolic Diseases (IDM) is the individualized prediction and prevention of diabetes and its personalized therapy. Our Metabolic Neuroimaging Department (Head: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Hubert Preissl) seeks a PhD candidate in Human Neuroimaging and Nutrition Research.

We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist eager to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment with neuroscientists, physicians, biomedical engineers, and psychologists.

Your tasks as a PhD candidate will include:

  • Studying central nervous system processes and human eating behavior in volunteers at high risk of developing diabetes
  • Applying neuroimaging techniques, behavioral and metabolic measurements, and cognitive paradigms

Your profile

  • MSc in Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or Nutritional Sciences
  • Knowledge in statistical analysis (using SPSS, R, or SAS) and programming in MATLAB and/or Python
  • Experience with conducting human experimental research
  • Experience with functional magnetic resonance imaging and cognitive paradigms is beneficial
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Motivation and commitment to a scientific career
  • Proficiency in English and German
