With billions of queries across our platforms, we help people find their perfect flight, stay, rental car, and vacation package. We're also transforming business travel with a new corporate travel solution, KAYAK for Business.

As an employee of KAYAK, you will be part of a travel company operating a portfolio of global metasearch brands, including momondo, Cheapflights, and HotelsCombined. Innovation is in our DNA, and every employee has an opportunity to make their mark. Our focus is on building the best travel search engine to make it easier for everyone to experience the world.

The Manager of Tax Reporting & Compliance will report directly to KAYAK's Director of Global Tax Reporting and Compliance and will manage a regional tax compliance specialist, leveraging the support of Booking Holdings' Centre of Excellence to drive process efficiencies.

This role involves overseeing and reviewing all direct and indirect tax obligations for KAYAK to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. It also includes managing local statutory tax reporting requirements across relevant jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate will have proven extensive experience with indirect tax matters (DST, PST, VAT/GST, etc.), tax reporting, audits, withholding tax, corporate income tax, and Transfer Pricing (TP). They should be curious, agile, have a strong growth mindset, a sense of ownership and accountability, and an ambitious spirit.

In this role, you will:

  1. Oversee the preparation and review of the brands' corporate income tax returns and related filings across our global footprint (excluding NORAM).
  2. Oversee the preparation and review of VAT, GST, DST returns, and other indirect tax filings.
  3. Maintain compliance with direct and indirect taxes, aligning with Booking Holdings Tax Team and sister brands.
  4. Monitor evolving global tax regulations, assess their implications for KAYAK, and ensure ongoing compliance.
  5. Manage KAYAK's tax reporting, including indirect tax journal entries, disclosures, and analysis of tax balance sheet accounts, ensuring compliance and financial reporting integrity per US GAAP and local requirements.
  6. Support the wider KAYAK tax team with TP compliance, including local TP filings and disclosures.
  7. Translate compliance requirements into actionable tasks and checklists for finance and business audiences.
  8. Foster strong cross-functional relationships with Finance, HR, Legal, FP&A, and Booking Holdings Tax teams to ensure alignment and accuracy on regional tax matters.
  9. Mentor and develop direct reports, fostering technical growth, professional development, and ownership within the team.
  10. Assist with ad hoc projects and provide tax input on commercial transactions, including M&A, new market entry, and contract review.
  11. Support the Director of Tax in maintaining relationships with external advisers, balancing expertise with budget management.

Qualifications:

  • ACA/ACCA/CA/CTA qualification with a minimum of 6-8 years of post-qualified experience in a global organization; EMEA experience preferred.
  • JD, LLB, LLM, or equivalent degree preferred.
  • Big 4 practice training with industry (in-house) experience.
  • Broad knowledge of corporate income tax, transfer pricing, and tax regulations (e.g., Digital Service Tax, Pillar II data reporting). Experience with VAT compliance.
  • Experience coordinating with top-tier tax and professional service advisers across jurisdictions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Experience mentoring and developing direct reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex tax regulations for broad audiences.
  • Organizational and planning skills, with effective task prioritization and time management.
  • Proactive in leading process improvements and standardization projects.
  • Solution-oriented, capable of managing multiple deadlines.
  • Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, OneStream, and advanced Excel/SQL skills preferred.

Join us to foster a culture of excellence and collaboration, elevate KAYAK's tax function, and help shape the future of our company!
