As a software engineer, you will join as a founding member of the Berlin site, and be part of our multi-year journey to achieve our Lakehouse vision. You will be involved in the entire development cycle and embody all core Databricks values (ownership, data-driven decision making, teamwork, customer obsession).

Responsibilities include:

• Drive requirements clarity and design decisions for ambiguous problems
• Produce technical design documents and project plans
• Develop new features
• Mentor junior engineers
• Test, deploy to production, and monitor systems

Qualifications:

• BSc in Computer Science or equivalent experience in databases or distributed systems
• Ability to work towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables
• Motivated by delivering customer value and impact
• 5+ years of experience in Java, Scala, or C++ in a production environment
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures
• Experience with distributed systems, databases, and big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop)
