Job Description

We are committed to a social mission focused on healthcare, research, and teaching. We seek your scientific expertise for the RTG Chemical Biology of Ion Channels (Chembion) starting June 1st, 2025. The position is part of an externally-funded collaborative research project.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Prof. Dr. Guiscard Seebohm's research group in Cellular Electrophysiology and Molecular Biology.
  • Characterize modulators and analyze the function of neuronal/cardiac Kv7 channels.
  • Conduct transfection of heteromeric channel constructs, electrophysiology in oocytes and cells, work with stem cell-derived 2D cardiac cultures, high-resolution microscopy, and modeling of proteins and electrical networks.

We offer a structured 3-year Ph.D. training program in these fields.

Requirements:

  • An ambitious Ph.D. candidate with a strong interest in multidisciplinary research.
  • A state examination degree in pharmacy or a master's in chemistry, biochemistry, or biology.
  • Excellent English language skills; team spirit and communication skills are essential.
  • German skills are not required but willingness to learn is desirable.
