Job Description:

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

The Area Continuous Improvement Manager supports regional facilities in creating and implementing Sherwin Williams CI culture. This role involves collaborating with manufacturing and distribution sites to understand and improve current processes for monetary, time, or morale benefits. The manager is the main contact for coaching and training CI strategies and needs.

Major Tasks Performed:

  • Increase transparency of operations through robust measurement of losses and generation of loss trees.
  • Enhance productivity by leading the use of lean tools, Six Sigma, etc. (value stream mapping, 5S, Kanban) to eliminate delays, duplication, unnecessary movements, communication issues, inventory errors, and defects.
  • Conduct pillar training and lead the Standard Work program.
  • Collaborate on certification of the Standard Work program.
  • Coach operational teams in continuous improvement techniques and foster a proactive CI culture.
  • Ensure proper ownership and management of work to sustain the culture.
  • Develop and deliver training on CI tools.
  • Challenge production teams to maintain momentum of improvements.
  • Create reports to identify opportunities and implement improvements.
  • Assist with maintaining CI projects in the Onbase database.
  • Support process analysis and scoping of CI projects.
  • Communicate goals and processes clearly to meet SW standards.
  • Participate in project design reviews and understand resource requirements.
  • Lead implementation plans for facilities to maintain 5-year plans for Standard Work and CI initiatives.
  • Share best practices and promote standardization for better resource sharing.
  • Assist with process issues and analyze work trends for improvement opportunities.
  • Create reports using analytics tools like OBIEE or Business Objects.
  • Audit sites for CI certification sustainability.
  • Partner with leadership to prioritize facility needs.
  • Promote a 'management by fact' mindset.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Ensure effective communication and understanding of CI goals and strategies.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Organized, with excellent communication skills, goal-oriented, and a team player.
  • Preferred: Continuous Improvement background (Six Sigma or Lean).

Technical/Skill Requirements:

  • Experience in leading CI projects using CI tools and coaching teams.
  • Experience with TPM framework in manufacturing.
  • Background in consumer goods manufacturing.
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness across functions.
  • Leadership, influencing, coaching, communication skills, enthusiasm, patience, analytical mindset, teamwork.
  • Minimum 2 years manufacturing experience.

System Access:

  • Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Visio, Oracle/eAM, OBIEE, Watson, Minitab, Business Objects.
