Smart technical logistics systems are major constituents of the chain of value added. They represent important links between society, product development, and mobility systems, undergoing major changes due to digitalization. The professorship contributes significantly to the “KIT Mobility Systems Center”, the KIT Center Information Systems Technologies (KCIST), and the Innovation Campus “Future Mobility”.
The focus will be on developing and operating smart technical logistics systems, including sustainable and robotic systems. Tasks include designing control systems, modeling and analyzing the performance of large logistics systems, and assessing resource efficiency. Key applications involve AI and robotics in future production, distribution logistics, and autonomous urban logistics. The role requires expertise in mathematical modeling, simulation, optimization, and mechatronic system design, combining theoretical and experimental research.
In academia, the main task is to teach future engineers methods and solutions related to smart technical logistics systems through research and practical application. Lectures should be delivered in both English and German for KIT’s Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering International, Mechatronics and Information Technology, and Business Engineering. Modern teaching formats and innovative concepts will be emphasized.
