As General Legal Counsel / Principal Law Attorney (m / f / d), you will play a critical role in guiding our company through complex legal landscapes, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will support us in protecting our intellectual property (IP) in close cooperation with external patent attorneys.

1. Develop and oversee the company's legal strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and provide legal consultancy to internal stakeholders on a wide range of legal issues.
2. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and that all contracts reflect the company's best interests and comply with applicable laws.
3. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of complex agreements and contracts.
4. Identify and manage legal risks, implementing proactive strategies to mitigate potential issues; advise on risk-related aspects of business decisions and operations.
5. Implement and maintain a system for contract data management, including digital storage, filing, and organization of all legal documents.
6. Track and manage contract lifecycles, including monitoring key dates such as renewals and expirations, ensuring timely actions.
7. Lead and mentor the Legal and IP team, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
8. Support the development, protection, and management of the company's IP portfolio, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, in close collaboration with external patent attorneys.

Your profile

1. Completed studies in law or legal studies, or equivalent qualifications.
2. Significant professional experience, preferably within the technology sector such as quantum computing, AI, or related deep tech fields.
3. Proven track record of managing complex legal issues in a corporate environment.
4. Strong business acumen with the ability to align legal strategies with business goals.
5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior leadership.
6. Background in IP law or a technical degree related to quantum computing or computer science is an advantage.

About us

Kipu Quantum is a German startup focused on quantum computing, with offices in Karlsruhe and Berlin. We develop quantum algorithms tailored for specific applications and hardware, helping industries like pharmaceuticals, chemicals, logistics, and finance to solve complex problems using existing quantum hardware. Our goal is to make practical quantum computing accessible by reducing the time needed to achieve quantum advantage for real-world applications.

In December 2023, Kipu Quantum secured €10.5 million in seed funding led by HV Capital and DTCF (DeepTech & Climate Fonds), with participation from Entrada Ventures, Quantonation, and First Momentum Ventures. This funding will support the development of hardware-specific quantum algorithms and accelerate the commercialization of our quantum solutions.
