Production Technician (Ability to work 1st OR 2nd shift)

We are looking for a Production Technician for our Elgin, IL facility. In this role you will be responsible for the set up and monitoring of the coating machines and/or to prepare the coating system, load, unload the chamber, change the magnetic systems and input process parameters in the operator screen. This Individual will pre-treat a variety of customer products using standardized methods to prepare products for coating. You will use analytical thinking and a high-degree of creativity to oversee and assemble chamber loads based on customer specifications. As part of your regular responsibilities, you will make critical processing decisions, to initiate the coating process as well as be responsible for disassembling and reconfiguring the chamber for subsequent loads.

Your Responsibilities

  • Perform daily changeover maintenance of pre/post treatment equipment.
  • Optimize the daily use of production equipment.
  • Follow standard procedures and interpret customer work instructions.
  • Work with Quality Coordinator and Center Manager to identify and address quality concerns.
  • Provide training and assistance to other employees on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Learn new skills and cross-train into various departments.
  • Operate and maintain coating equipment according to specifications.
  • Minimize equipment downtime through preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Learn fixturing and de-fixturing techniques.
  • Maintain and update equipment records.
  • Assist with quality assurance and other technical matters as required.
  • Perform other duties as required to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Interact with customers and co-workers in a ‘customer-friendly’ manner.
  • Receive and inspect customer product for processing.
  • Inspect finished product.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.

Your Profile

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior machine operator experience preferred.
  • Ability to read/write/speak English.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Strong work ethic, detail-oriented, and creative.
  • Energetic, goals-driven, result-oriented, and high-energy.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms; stand for extended periods of time; sit, walk, and move about the facility.
  • Ability to lift, stack, push, pull and/or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to concentrate on given tasks and not be distracted.
  • Ability to read and see details at close range.
  • Ability to work safely with a variety of chemicals and gases.

Oerlikon is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position, which is $21.00 to $24.00 per hour. Some positions within Oerlikon may also offer eligibility to participate in a discretionary incentive program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for the role will be based on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, internal equity, job location, work experience, education, training, certifications, licenses, etc. Therefore, as compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each individual, it is likely that not all applicants will be hired at the highest end of the listed compensation range. Our total compensation package goes beyond base compensation and it will include a competitive benefits package starting with 2 weeks paid time off accrued on a monthly basis, 12 holidays, 48 hours personal/sick time (exception for NY where we follow State law), medical, dental, vision, 401K, holidays, pet insurance and tuition reimbursement all effective day one of hire.
