THE POSITION :
The Principal Medical Science Liaison will be responsible for establishing, developing, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within a defined territory. The product launch is ongoing as the first and only FDA approved therapy for desmoid tumors. A Marketing Authorisation Application for desmoid tumors in Europe was submitted in February 2024,
The Principal MSL will be the scientific face of the Client in the field. The Principal MSL role requires mastery of technical, clinical, and functional expertise that is above and beyond a Senior MSL. A Principal MSL will be able to maximize and leverage Key Opinion Leader (KOL) relationships by identifying collaborative opportunities that meet the strategic needs of the company
Key expectations include the Principal MSL being able to develop and maintain an excellent scientific and medical knowledge base, ability to communicate key insights learned, and disseminate critical scientific data to external stakeholders; including but not limited to academic/scientific/clinical experts, payers, and patient organizations.
The Principal MSL will be responsible for ensuring timely and appropriate input on the field medical engagement plans in support of our clinical development and commercialization programs and activities. In addition, the Principal MSL will assist and drive the support of the company’s clinical trials in partnership with the clinical development team and with researchers as appropriate.
The Principal MSL will be expected to master the Sr. MSL responsibilities and be able to take on additional leadership roles on projects and initiatives that increase the value and productivity of the MSL team and Medical Affairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
KOL Relationships
- Build and maintain deep expert relationships with relevant KOLs while establishing and maintaining strong scientific connections across multi-specialty disciplines in academic centers and community practices at the local, regional, national, and international level
- Support and advise in translating the field medical strategy to a national KOL plan and ensures the KOL development strategies translate to individual territories
- Provides expert scientific support to MSLs as needed for KOL interactions by partnering during pre-call planning
HCP Engagement
- Consistently partners with Medical Information colleagues to continuously improve Standard Response Letters, FAQs, and efficiency of MIRF process
- Acts as expert and primary liaison to investigators interested in developing and performing investigator-initiated research
- Independent and skilled with the ability to lead others and routinely steps up to assist on identified needsBe the primary onboarding trainer and mentor for new MSLs across all levels
Scientific Congress Lead
- The Principal MSL will also serve as the MSL lead for scientific congresses, organizing the scientific coverage as well as being responsible to ensure the summaries are developed and appropriately distributed after each congressBe responsible for organizing any pre-conference company meetings ensuring alignment with other cross functional partners such as Commercial, Compliance, and Clinical Development
Insight Generation
- Responsible for staying abreast and maintaining mastery of current scientific and treatment landscape trends in therapeutic areas of interest
Internal Project Support
- Consistently active contributor to Product Medical Affairs Team, providing their expertise to the medical planParticipate and advise in the planning and execution of scientific/medical advisory boards as needed.
- Consistently displays leadership skills when working with cross-functional teams with positive impact outside own functionAdvises and shares best practices to Principal Leadership to help drive change across organizationServes as a mentor, role model, and consistent leader on the MSL team and positively influences without direct report responsibilityServe as a scientific subject matter expert within therapeutic area(s)
Other Duties:
- Be familiar with EU pharma rules and regulations, particularly as they apply to MSL activities, especially those governing HCP and patient interactions
- Provide clinical presentations and information in response to unsolicited questions (as appropriate) in academic, community, and healthcare provider settings.
- Develop and execute territory plans in alignment withlocal,regional,national, and internationalstrategy
- Develop and maintain strong and deep relationships with clinical decision makers atlocal,regional,national, and internationalinstitutions
- Manage/lead relevant activities/projects including, but not limited to:Facilitate and lead field medical onboarding programsLeads the creation and maintenance of the training curriculum for assigned therapeutic area and provides direction to content developers

Qualifications
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.
- AdvancedScientificdegreerequired MD, PhD, PharmD, DNPAdvanced Practice Degree, NP, PA, with oncology experience may be considered in rare instances).
- Minimum of 5 -10 years MSL experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Rare disease experience preferred, particularly in Oncology and/or Neurosciences.
- Demonstrated mastery of effectively presenting clinical/scientific information through 1:1 meetings, small group interactions, and through written communications
Other skills:
Technical:
- Mastery level proficiency with business software including but not limited to Veeva CRM or a comparable customer relations management tool, Adobe Professional, and the Microsoft Office Suite of applications
- Ability to expertly understand, review, and communicate complex technical concepts and technologies
- Working knowledge of the EMA, ICH and EFPMA compliance guidance.
