About our client

An expanding services company in the engineering sector, backed by high-caliber investors with a strong growth trajectory, is currently looking for a Head of Investments to lead the origination and execution of M&A deals, as well as defining or proposing strategic company projects.

They aim to acquire several companies per year to achieve their inorganic growth goals. We seek someone with experience working with German founders and entrepreneurs, and extensive deal experience in a private equity fund or the M&A team of a PE-backed portfolio company. A natural networker who can source deals bilaterally and build a trusted industry network.

This position reports directly to the CEO, involves significant board and investor exposure, and is crucial for driving growth and value creation across the business.

What the job involves

• Building and developing a strong pipeline for acquisitions
• Managing M&A transactions from start to finish with a small team
• Working with founders, guiding them through the process, and building a network in the industry
• Owning the investment process with a hands-on approach
• Driving growth and professionalization of the business
• Building and managing the broader M&A team

Who we are looking for

• Several years of professional experience sourcing and executing deals in Germany in lower mid-market environments, either in a private equity fund or a PE-backed portfolio company
• Strong track record of building pipelines and executing M&A transactions
• Hands-on approach, high interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, self-starting mentality, and drive to own initiatives
• Outgoing, results-driven, goal-oriented, with analytical and data-driven thinking
• Outstanding strategic, commercial, communication, and presentation skills
• Fluency in German and English is essential
