ISCC – International Sustainability and Carbon Certification is one of the leading certification systems for sustainability, traceability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Our activities and impact are expanding and our teams are growing exponentially since the last 2 years. This is why the IT & Technology department, specifically the Software Development team of experts are looking forward to welcome you as Software Developer – Backend at ISCC headquarters in Cologne.

The Software Developer – Backend has the objective to develop tools/application, webservices and REST APIs for various purposes. If you are passionate about sustainability and would like to join our highly motivated and diverse teams to make a difference, we are looking forward to your application!

Your main duties will be:

• Software development based on given requirements and methodology
• Maintenance of database systems and development tools used
• Documentation of project-related work and systems used
• Support IT and Development colleagues to solve issues
• Support the set-up of a development entity
• Constant self-training to keep knowledge to state-of-the-art (10% of time / week)
• Participate in various ISCC Projects

Your profile

• University degree in Information Science or similar area
• At least 3 years of experience as a full-time developer
• Programming Languages: Strong programming skills in Go, Java, JavaScript, Python
• Databases: Familiar with database systems like SQL (Microsoft, Postgres, MySQL), MongoDB, FileMaker, Neo4J. Experience in Database administration is a plus
• DevOps & Development Tools: Familiarity with GitHub, GitLab (CI/CD automation), Docker, Kubernetes, Jira and Confluence
• IDE: Experience with Eclipse or IntelliJ, and Visual Studio Code.
• Java Application Server: Knowledge of Apache Tomcat or similar.
• Methodologies: Experience working in Agile/SCRUM environments, with knowledge of UML and BPMN for modeling processes.
• Artificial Intelligence (AI): Experience with tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude as well as integrating and customizing AI tools via APIs
• Proficient in Linux/Ubuntu, Mac and Windows environments
• Excellent English skills (at least C1), and good German skills (at least B2)
