OVERVIEW

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Welocalize seeks passionate and culturally fluent Russian (Kazakhstan) linguists with deep knowledge of contemporary music and exceptional writing skills to join our Music localization team. You will help craft compelling in-app content and user experiences that resonate with Russian-speaking audiences across genres and formats.

Your role involves translating and adapting various music-related content into native-level Russian, ensuring an authentic tone and voice for our client's global music platform. This is more than localization; it’s storytelling for a music-loving audience.

Language Pair: English (US) > Russian (Kazakhstan)

Task Type: Translation, Transcreation, Copy Editing

Volume: 1,000–2,000 weighted words/week

Tools: Welocalize CAT & client tools (training provided)

Workload: Daily/Weekly availability preferred

Assessment: Grammar + UX/Creative task via Mettl (completed in one sitting)

MAIN DUTIES

• Translate and post-edit music-related content with precision and creativity.
• Adapt tone, style, and structure to reflect the Russian music scene, culture, and idiomatic usage.
• Collaborate with our assessment team to complete brief testing in our platform (grammar + UX/marketing task).
• Maintain brand consistency and linguistic accuracy across UI, banners, and promotional assets.
• Provide feedback or suggestions for content relevance and impact.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Minimum 4 years' experience in music, media, or creative localization.
• Strong familiarity with current music trends, genres (Pop, K-Pop, Hip Hop), and cultural context.
• Excellent command of Russian (Kazakhstan) and deep cultural fluency.
• Experience with UI/UX copy, music metadata, or artist bios.
• Comfortable using CAT tools and adapting content across platforms.
• Degree in linguistics, translation, or journalism; creative writing background preferred.

BONUS IF YOU HAVE:

• Published work on platforms like Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, or similar.
• Experience with music streaming services.
• Ability to adapt voice and style for Gen Z or pop culture audiences.
