Position: Research Associate for the project “HABBAL” in Fish Ecophysiology and Toxicology
Salary level
Based on university standards
Start date: 01.10.2024, pending funding approval, fixed until 31.07.2027. This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG).
Scope of work: Full-time position, part-time suitable
Conduct academic research within the HABBAL project. Opportunities for independent research and further academic qualifications.
HABs are increasing in the Baltic Sea, threatening ecosystems and human health. The role focuses on assessing fish tolerance to toxins from algae like Prymnesium parvum to improve risk assessments and develop early warning systems.
Experiments with fish, behavioral tests, metabolic measurements, under environmental stress conditions, collaborating within the HABBAL consortium involving molecular ecotoxicology, genetics, biochemistry, and socioeconomics.
Doctorate in aquatic ecology, ecophysiology, or ecotoxicology. Experience in fish care, experiments, aquaculture tech, biostatistics, programming (R, Python), teamwork, and proficiency in English. A B-class driving license is advantageous.
