ERM recently launched ERM Climate Markets to leverage ERM’s technical and project management expertise to build the carbon credit projects of tomorrow. We are seeking an experienced financial modeler with carbon market experience to join this dynamic area of ERM.

The Carbon Financial Modeler is a core member of the ERM climate markets team, supporting the commercial structuring lead. Responsibilities include building robust financial models related to investment in carbon assets, including project development, evaluating financial viability for carbon investment opportunities, and managing financial risk for ERM and our clients.

Qualifications include 7+ years’ experience in financial modelling in related fields (renewable energy, oil and gas) and 3+ years in carbon markets, including project development. The candidate should be a team player with initiative and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

• Assess financial return of carbon projects, projecting multi-decade cash flows and evaluating capital expenditures against projected returns.
• Develop predictive financial models to support decision-making.
• Perform sensitivity and scenario analysis to inform management decisions.
• Prepare documentation to seek funding from corporate investors.
• Interface with finance and tax teams to develop investment strategies.
• Monitor financial data to alert stakeholders of deviations.
• Guide buying/selling of carbon credits, investments, and funding generation.
• Research industry data to predict trends and develop financing strategies.
• Create reports to aid strategic decisions.
• Develop forecasting tools for financial data analysis.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in finance, economics, statistics, or related experience.
• Industry knowledge of carbon markets and project development.
• Proven experience in financial modeling of greenfield carbon projects and blended finance models.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and financial software.
• Experience with investment monitoring and reporting.
• Understanding of accounting principles.
• Team-oriented with ability to work in dynamic environments.
• Ability to handle large datasets, think strategically, and organize effectively.
• Advanced financial modeling skills.
