The Robert Bosch GmbH invites applications for a master thesis focusing on the techno-economic optimization of a power-to-methanol process, considering the intermittency of renewable energy sources and the goal of minimizing levelized costs of methanol (LCOM). Your work will include:

  1. Conducting extensive literature research and deriving component prices.
  2. Validating the operation strategy.
  3. Selecting and implementing an optimization method for an existing process simulation.
  4. Performing techno-economic optimization considering heat integration and key parameter sensitivities for different use cases.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Master’s studies in Chemical and Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields with good grades.
  • Experience and Knowledge: Numerical optimization methods, programming in Python, basic understanding of water electrolysis.
  • Personality and Working Practice: Well-organized, effective communicator, able to work independently.
  • Languages: Fluent in English; German is a plus.
