Jobbeschreibung

If you’re deeply concerned about climate change and the ongoing destruction of the environment, yet excited about the opportunity to actively work on a meaningful solution, this role could be a perfect fit for you.

Who we are :

We are Climate Accountability API , a small non-profit organization based in Berlin. Currently, we are the world’s leading provider of real-time data (APIs) on global warming and atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. We serve around 80k software applications at no cost. Recently, we were honored to win the national competition for " The E.ON Foundation's European Climate Fund " securing a €10,000 prize. These funds will be used to develop our prototype : a suite of software solutions designed to inform the public about the environmental impact of businesses operating in the European Union. By empowering individuals with this information, we aim to shift resources away from carbon-intensive businesses toward more green alternatives, accelerating the transition to a sustainable future.

Your Role

We are seeking a skilled and mission-driven Fundraiser with hands-on experience in securing European Union and German-based funding for climate-related or data-driven projects. You will play a key role in identifying opportunities, preparing applications, and helping us secure the financial support needed to grow our impact.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and evaluate EU funding programs relevant to climate action, data transparency, or ESG initiatives (e.g. Horizon Europe, LIFE Programme, EU Green Deal calls).

Apply to national funding opportunities in Germany , such as BMUV, BMBF, DBU, Stiftung Umwelt und Entwicklung NRW, and others.

Draft, structure, and submit high-quality grant applications.

Track deadlines, manage application requirements, and prepare supporting documents.

Support the creation of a sustainable fundraising strategy for long-term growth.

Collaborate with the founder and team to align funding efforts with project milestones and impact goals.

Your Profile

Proven experience in securing EU and / or German public funding for non-profits or similar organizations. Alternatively, you have completed relevant certifications or training related to EU fundraising or similar.

Excellent writing skills in English (German is a plus).

Familiarity with non-profit compliance, budgeting, and program planning.

Self-organized, proactive, and passionate about sustainability and social impact.

Nice to Have

Experience with private sector fundraising or philanthropy.

Knowledge of funding mechanisms related to climate action, digital innovation, or data infrastructure.

Familiarity with transparency registers, ESG / CSRD reporting, or civic tech.

Knowledge of collaborative tools like Slack, Notion, or Trello.

What We Offer

Remote-first work environment

Flexible working hours tailored to your schedule

A meaningful mission with a tangible impact on climate and sustainability

Freedom to shape your role and bring in your ideas.

Compensation and Benefits :

Transition to Paid Role : Due to our current funding limitations, we offer a Performance-Based Hiring Model. This role begins as a volunteer position, with a commitment to transition to a paid part-time or full-time position based on the type of program we apply for, and the amount of funding secured.

Paid Courses and Certifications : Opportunities to enhance skills with relevant certifications.

Access to Trainings and Workshops : Participate in professional development sessions to grow your expertise.

Books and Resources : Gain access to educational materials to deepen your knowledge.

Equipment : If needed, we will provide you with the necessary work equipment, such as a laptop, headset, or any other essential tools to support your role.

Public Recognition and Endorsements : Receive acknowledgment for your contributions, including LinkedIn recommendations.

Hands-On Work Experience : Collaborate closely with the founder and gain valuable real-world experience.
