A leading company in the field of free knowledge is seeking a UX Designer to join their Berlin team. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to create inclusive and accessible solutions for users worldwide. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in user research, design systems, and prototyping, with a focus on enhancing user experiences. This position offers a hybrid working model and is a temporary replacement role until January 2027.
Free knowledge leads to a fairer world.Wikipedia is the most important online knowledge collection of our time. The German Wikipedia alone records almost 1 billion page views per month for a total of 3 million articles. We - Wikimedia Deutschland e. V. - support the volunteers of Wikipedia and its sister projects, develop free software, such as Wikidata, and advocate for free access to knowledge, the opening of education and research, and more common good orientation in data policy.
For our UX Team, based in Berlin, we are looking for a UX Designer (all genders), full-time or part-time (30-40 hours / week), ideally starting 01.08.2025 or sooner.
As this position is a temporary replacement, the contract is limited until January 2027.This position is designed as a hybrid working model with regular presence in our Berlin office.
As the UX Designer for Wikibase Cloud (all genders), you will collaborate inside of your cross-functional team and work closely to its Product Manager and UX Researcher to identify key problems and ideate and deliver high-quality, inclusive, and accessible solutions for a worldwide community of users for one of Wikimedia Deutschland’s main products:Wikibase Cloud.
Wikibase Cloud is an open-source software as a service for creating collaborative knowledge bases, opening the door to the Linked Open Data web. It has the goal of giving more people access to knowledge and you will be part of that! The role will report to the Head of UX and is part of the UX team, which currently counts eight team members (UX Designers and UX Researchers). The mission of the UX team is to build an understanding of our users and their needs which will be translated into the journeys built in our different products. We aim at creating a better understanding of knowledge equity and to design digital experiences that empower users to contribute to the Wikimedia movement, no matter their background or ability.
