What You'll Do

Epic Games is searching for an Engine Feature Programmer to help enhance and maintain Unreal Engine's media functionality. You will work directly with some of the brightest technical minds in the industry as we expand media functionality for all our games and clients.

In this role, you will

1. Design and develop media client features for our internal games and the Unreal Engine itself.
2. Implement and expand media functionality between the client, engine, and backend.
3. Establish comprehensive developer toolsets to streamline media integration across gaming and film projects.
4. Assist internal customers in optimizing media integrations by identifying areas for improvement and providing technical guidance to design solutions for long-term maintainability.
5. Stay forward-thinking by keeping up to date on current techniques and research.

What we're looking for

• Strong C++ knowledge and multi-threaded programming skills; ability to architect core engine systems.
• Experience designing and implementing performant and resilient network clients.
• Proficiency in implementing robust APIs for frontend and backend systems.
• Experience with Unreal Engine—ideally with projects developed in UE4 or UE5, with thorough knowledge of Unreal Engine's Blueprint system.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in collaborating with client engineering teams to develop and iterate on features and tools.
• Experience working in a large codebase at a fast pace, balancing usability, performance, and power considerations.

This role is open to multiple locations in Europe.
