Technical Director Energy (m/f/d)

We are looking for a Technical Director to join our Energy Team in Germany. As our Technical Director Energy, you will lead our energy infrastructure activities in Germany. Your key responsibilities include developing and supporting our energy business offerings, providing technical leadership, identifying new business opportunities, and building strong relationships with local clients. You will be based in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Munich or Frankfurt am Main and can work partly remotely with flexible, self-organized work.

This role offers you:

  • Setting the vision and priorities for Arup’s Energy Business Plan in Germany.
  • Driving growth and market recognition of the Arup Energy Business and Brand in Germany.
  • Expanding Arup’s work on energy projects with existing and new clients, focusing on Transmission System Operators in Germany.
  • Developing and implementing new service pillars, especially in Renewable Energy Advisory (e.g., Technical Due Diligence, Project Management, Hydrogen).
  • Contributing to both Advisory and Engineering Design Services.
  • Providing technical leadership on complex projects involving power transmission networks, interconnectors, green hydrogen, or geothermal energy.
  • Promoting knowledge sharing across Europe.

Technical Director Energy (m/f/d)

Locations: Berlin / Düsseldorf / München / Frankfurt am Main

As a Technical Director, you will lead our energy infrastructure activities in Germany. Your responsibilities include developing and supporting our energy offerings, providing technical leadership, and building client relationships. You will be based in one of the key cities and may work remotely with flexible arrangements.

This role offers:

  • Vision setting and strategic planning for Arup’s energy business in Germany.
  • Growth and recognition of Arup’s energy services and brand.
  • Expanding energy project work with a focus on transmission and renewable energy sectors.
  • Developing new service areas like hydrogen and technical due diligence.

Ideal profile:

  • University degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 20+ years of experience in energy project development and implementation.
  • 10+ years of leadership in project teams within the energy sector.
  • Strong network and market knowledge in the German energy sector, especially with large utilities.
  • Fluent in German and English (spoken and written).
