Description

Our firm is seeking to hire a Manager within the Tax, Legal and Corporate Services Department. The successful candidate will be required to provide tax and legal advisory support to a wide range of local and international clients across various industries, including multinational corporations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate with Bahamian regulators, including the Ministry of Finance and the Department of Inland Revenue, to facilitate clients obtaining necessary approvals to operate in or from The Bahamas.
2. Analyze Bahamas legislation to provide accurate tax advice ensuring client compliance.
3. Prepare and file tax returns, manage tax audits, inquiries, notices, and other compliance matters for clients.
4. Advise clients on corporate restructuring, cross-border transactions, economic substance, re-domiciliation, and company liquidation.
5. Maintain documentation related to tax filings and compliance activities.
6. Co-manage the tax department's daily operations and supervise junior staff.
7. Promote a culture of tax and corporate compliance through training and support.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Proven experience at a managerial or supervisory level in tax, corporate, or commercial law.
2. Strong knowledge of relevant Bahamian tax legislation and regulations.
3. Understanding of corporate secretarial, advisory, and governance practices.
4. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
5. Up-to-date knowledge of tax law changes and regulatory risks in The Bahamas.
6. Proficiency in accounting and filing VAT and Business Licence returns is an asset.
7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
8. Leadership, coaching, and client relationship skills.
9. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
10. Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.

Education & Experience:

1. Minimum 5 years of experience in tax management, corporate, or commercial law, preferably in finance or accounting sectors.
2. Attorney-at-law in good standing with The Bahamas Bar or regional Bar, which would strengthen the application.
3. Notary Public qualifications are a plus.

Education:

Bachelor's degrees in Accounting or Finance; Master’s in Taxation; Law degree preferred.

Certifications:

Attorney-at-law – Bahamas Bar Association (required)
