Position Summary

TÜV SÜD has been working with top automotive OEMs and suppliers globally for over 100 years, specializing in vehicle testing. In the era of highly automated driving, we leverage our extensive experience in testing and benchmarking advanced driver assistance systems. This position aims to expand our automotive business in the USA through operational execution of highly automated driving projects, including technical advice, training, support, and assessments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Act as a Functional Safety Engineer for connected and automated vehicles by reviewing, analyzing, and discussing safety concepts according to relevant standards during various project phases.
  • Perform independent confirmation and verification reviews based on ISO 26262 standards.
  • Conduct audits and assessments of safety processes for clients seeking compliance with standards like ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL 4600, among others.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, global teams, and clients on safety standards.
  • Manage external partners to ensure vehicle system compliance.
  • Advise clients on system specifications, safety cases, management plans, and technical designs.
  • Focus on customer satisfaction, account growth, and service expansion.
  • Act as a project manager when needed and respond to urgent customer issues.
  • Support technical sales activities related to Functional Safety and autonomous driving safety aspects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, informatics, electrical, mechanical, computer, or systems engineering, preferably with an automotive focus.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience with ISO 26262, and preferably in ADAS or Autonomous Driving.
  • Experience with other automotive safety standards is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Automotive Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434) is advantageous.
  • Practical project management experience in the automotive sector.
  • Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and an independent, result-oriented work approach.
