Job Description: Ruby on Rails Developer at ExoMatter

We are seeking an exceptional Ruby on Rails developer to join ExoMatter, working on our customer-facing platform and internal tools that support our Materials R&D platform.

Join a young deep tech startup based in Munich, revolutionizing materials development. ExoMatter is a spin-off of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and part of UnternehmerTUM, with paying customers like Airbus and BSH, and a strong growth trajectory.

Responsibilities

As a Ruby on Rails developer, you will:

• Maintain and enhance our customer-facing materials screening and computation platform, along with internal management tools.
• Collaborate within our small but growing development team, including Python backend developers and materials scientists.
• Implement new functionalities, build interfaces, and maintain the existing codebase.
• Work directly with our Ruby on Rails codebase.
• Integrate our Rails application with the Python computation backend, including scaling queuing and pooling systems.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of commercial experience with Ruby on Rails, with at least one application built from scratch.
• Strong testing experience, particularly with RSpec.
• Ability to work independently and manage your tasks autonomously.
• Fluent in English; German skills are a plus.
• Reside in Munich or willing to relocate; available to work approximately 50% onsite.
• Experience with Sidekiq or similar job management systems.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience working in startups or small teams.
