As an e-commerce Marketplace, Metro Markets works with hundreds of Vendors and Suppliers within Europe and beyond, managing thousands of products to deliver on our customer’s needs while providing great service.

We are looking for an Import Supply Expert (Asia) (m/f/d).

We seek an Import Supply Expert (Asia) with proven experience in import planning, especially in Asian markets, to join our Supply Planning team.

This role involves replenishing warehouse goods, liaising with main Metro suppliers in Asia, developing inventory replenishment strategies for Own Brands, improving replenishment tools and strategies, managing supply chain risks, monitoring inventory levels, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and third-party providers to align supply chain plans with business goals.

Your key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing the monthly replenishment process, including supply order planning and processing, container logistics management, and route optimization to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
  2. Monitoring orders from Asia to Europe to ensure timely delivery and quality standards, coordinating deliveries according to business priorities.
  3. Managing stock efficiently to maximize product availability through regular SKU turnover analysis, stock level assessments, and proactive action recommendations.
  4. Generating performance reports to evaluate and enhance supplier performance and product availability.
  5. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders across Supply Chain, Warehousing, Demand Planning, Commercial, Marketing, and IT departments to streamline operations and improve overall supply chain performance.
  6. Handling processes related to container deliveries, including claims and customs clearance.
  7. Coordinating ordering activities based on buying and selling opportunities with the Commercial team.
  8. Analyzing data and performance metrics to identify improvement areas and implement efficiency and cost-saving solutions.
  9. Participating in process improvement projects and system optimizations along the supply chain and with main suppliers in Asia.
  10. Preparing documentation for process standardization and optimization.

This is a permanent full-time position based in our Düsseldorf office, with the possibility of partial remote work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in supply chain management, particularly in coordinating Asian-to-European orders.
  • Knowledge of container planning and logistics, with effective route and resource optimization skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience with customs processes, especially importing from Asia to Europe.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, logistics management platforms, and advanced MS Excel; Power BI skills are a plus.
  • Comfort handling large data volumes, with precision and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proactive in addressing challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities.
  • High ownership and end-to-end process thinking.
  • Experience setting, monitoring, and reporting KPIs.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
