At the Institute of Nutritional Sciences at the Faculty of Biological Sciences of Friedrich Schiller University Jena, a

W2 Professorship for Nutrition and Prevention

is to be filled by the next possible date.

We are looking for a research personality (f/m/d) with broad expertise, didactic competence and an outstanding international reputation in the field of nutrition and prevention of nutrition-related and age-associated diseases by addressing research questions in the area of basic research, applied research or bioanalytics in nutrition research. Particular emphasis is placed on a complementary profile to the existing research areas at the institute in order to optimally complement the existing competencies. Cooperation and networking within the faculty especially with the institute of pharmacy and the non-university research institutions in Jena is desired. In addition, compatibility with the research priorities ‘aging and age-associated diseases’ and/or ‘microbial societies and chemical communication’ is desired. We expect him or her to have experience in interdisciplinary cooperation and in the acquisition of third-party funding as well as leadership skills. Our future colleague will cooperate in an interdisciplinary manner and contribute his or her knowledge to the dialogue with society.

The applicant has an excellent track record in teaching. High-quality teaching, integrating innovative methods, is expected. Future tasks include participation in teaching in the Bachelor‘s and Master‘s programmes nutritional sciences. The language of instruction is German. Appropriate participation in self-administration tasks is expected.

In order to be eligible for the position, candidates must have a completed degree preferentially in nutritional sciences or food chemistry, pedagogical aptitude, a particular aptitude for academic work demonstrated by a doctorate as well as a Habilitation or equivalent academic achievements. Appointment as a professor shall be for life as a civil servant, provided that the legal requirements are met.
