Resource Adequacy & Resilience Specialist, remote, Germany

This role involves joining the Transmission Operations and Planning Group at EPRI, a team of leading power system analysts and energy-economic modelers. The successful candidate will source and prepare datasets, build and extend resource adequacy and resilience models, and conduct adequacy analyses to address research questions around the electric sector, interconnection, and economy-wide decarbonization in various regions including the Middle East and U.S.

The position offers the opportunity to work with established experts in a stimulating environment, tackling key research questions in collaboration with electric companies and government partners. Flexibility is provided in terms of hours and location, with options to work remotely or from offices in Dublin or Dubai, based in Ireland, Spain, Germany, France, UAE, or other EU countries where EPRI Europe operates.

Ideal Candidate
  • Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in electrical engineering, operations research, energy resources, economics, computer science, systems engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience in building and running energy sector simulation or optimization models; familiarity with resource adequacy or reliability assessment is a plus.
  • Experience conducting analyses for policy, regulatory, market, or technology research questions relevant to the energy sector.
  • Understanding of capacity markets, resource accreditation, or resource adequacy assessments in European or Middle Eastern contexts.
  • Proficiency with modeling systems such as Python, Plexos, GAMS, AMPL, Matlab, R, or similar.
  • Strong research, writing, and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Positive attitude, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Interest in developing and contributing to cutting-edge research and knowledge transfer.
  • Experience with project budgeting, scheduling, and creating deliverables.

International travel (15-20%) may be required for conferences, meetings, and visits.
