The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) operates 76 institutes across Germany and is a leading applied research organization with around 32,000 employees and an annual research budget of 3.4 billion euros.
The »Quantum Compilation« group at Fraunhofer IIS, part of the »Machine Intelligence« department in Nuremberg, is seeking motivated students for a Master's thesis. Our team has diverse backgrounds in computer science, engineering, and physics, focusing on quantum computing topics like quantum machine learning, error correction, and quantum-circuit cutting. This thesis is a joint project with the »Chair for Quantum Theory« at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg, supervised by Prof. Dr. Michael J. Hartmann.
Quantum Error Correction (QEC) aims to enable large-scale Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing (FTQC) by encoding quantum states to detect and correct errors. Current methods are resource-intensive, so developing more efficient approaches is crucial.
If you're interested in quantum error correction and want to enhance your skills, consider this opportunity!
We invite applications for a Master's thesis collaboration on this topic, following your university's rules. Post-graduation, full or part-time employment options are available.
