We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Site Leader to expand our operations in Berlin. This role involves establishing and managing the new site, leading cross-functional teams, managing performance, overseeing recruitment, and fostering a strong company culture. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in scaling operations, with hands-on technical expertise and strategic vision to evolve the capabilities of the Aurora Berlin team.

We deliver regular software releases, support our customers, and care for our engineers. Aurora is the most advanced cloud database service, continuously improving to meet the needs of startups and enterprises moving critical data to the cloud.

Amazon Aurora is powered by an auto-scaling, auto-healing, distributed storage cluster of global scale. The storage platform team seeks a Development Manager to elevate our service. You should have strong analytical, design, and problem diagnosis skills, with experience in high-performance systems or service design being a plus. You must be capable of building and managing teams through all software development phases, including hiring and growth. The ability to translate technical requirements into project plans is essential.

Minimum requirements
  • Experience managing multiple programs and teams in an Agile environment
  • 8+ years developing successful production software systems
  • 6+ years managing teams, including hiring and performance management
  • 2+ years managing managers
  • 8+ years developing large-scale, distributed systems in C/C++ with service-oriented architecture
  • Experience designing high-traffic applications
  • Experience working with remote teams and communicating with stakeholders
  • Passion for learning new technologies
  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent
