In this role you will be responsible for engineering activities in the area of hard- and software as well as installation, commissioning and service related to mining and material handling drive systems in the area of Process Industries in Cottbus, Germany. As an engineering and service engineer, you will work closely with customers and other ABB teams. You will plan, commission and maintain ABB frequency converters (from low voltage (LV) to medium voltage (MV), AC to DC applications). After an initial training period, during which you will get to know our electrical frequency converters and their applications, you will become part of a team that handles national and international projects and carries out service activities.

Your responsibilities

• Engineering and design of project and customer-specific drive solutions (low and medium voltage)
• Planning, controlling and supervising extensive greenfield and modernization projects in electrical drive technology with regard to customer requirements, deadlines, costs and quality
• Performing service activities at customer sites
• Developing system software for drive applications
• Supporting sales team with your technical background
• Checking functional specifications and participation in creating requirement specifications

Your background

• Experience in projects working as electrical or drives engineer, commissioning engineer or as other functions with automation and/or drive projects
• Good knowledge of engineering techniques, processes and tools
• Experience with software and design of e.g. control systems, VVVF applications, CAD or similiar
• A strong focus on safe work practices and dedication to following workplace safety guidelines
• A high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and desire to learn about new technologies
• A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills in both German and English
• A technician, bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g. electrical, automation) or equivalent/higher
