To effectively meet the challenge of protecting the world's forests, we are committed to having the most skilled people working with us. We are currently looking for an engaged Legal Counsel Corporate & Compliance (f/m/d) to join our Legal Department.

The energetic and eager team of the Legal Department supports all legal and compliance aspects of the FSC Group and advises management and specialized departments in their daily business affairs. The scope covers various law fields including contract and commercial law, data protection, donation, private international law, labor law, antitrust and competition law, intellectual property, corporate and tax law, IT, tenancy, insurance, public, and environmental law.

Main Roles & Responsibilities

You are a generalist with a focus on corporate, labor, contract, and commercial law, as well as compliance with an international orientation. You will support various legal matters in close cooperation with team members, reporting directly to the Senior Legal Counsel under the FSC Group Head of Legal Department. You should be confident in collaborating with stakeholders to reach practical, service-oriented solutions.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting existing and developing new legal compliance programs, e.g., in corporate, tax, labor, antitrust, data protection, and other regulatory compliance applicable to an international NGO.
• Ensuring compliance requirements are understood across all departments through regular training, dissemination of regulatory notifications, and translating requirements into business procedures.
• Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and co-approving various contracts for the FSC Group.
• Supporting prosecution of false claims cases and dispute resolution in cooperation with the System Integrity Unit.
• Reviewing FSC's organizational models, supporting subsidiaries, and assisting in establishing new legal entities.
• Supporting labor law-related topics in cooperation with FSC's HR Department and managing insurance portfolios with relevant departments.
• Preparing legal assessment reports and conducting research activities.
• Substituting for other legal team members as needed and supporting individual projects.

Your Profile

• University degree in law; Second State Examination for German lawyers.
• At least three years of professional experience as practicing attorney, either in a law firm or an international organization's legal department.
• Experience dealing with authorities, clients, courts, and law firms.
• Fluency in English and German (spoken and written); Spanish and/or French is a strong advantage.
• Strong cognitive abilities, good time management, and multitasking skills.
• Service-oriented attitude, diligence, accuracy, pragmatism.
• Proactive planning and organizational skills; project management experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office 365, with experience in Dynamics 365, SharePoint, MS Vision, MS Project, and contract management platforms like DocuSign CLM.
• Ability to work well in a multicultural, interdisciplinary, and multilingual team.
• Motivation to support FSC's values and mission with integrity and excellent performance.

The Fine Print

• Location: Bonn, Germany (FSC International headquarters).
• Working hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week, hybrid work model.
• Contract duration: 2-year contract with the intention to convert to permanent.
