Assay Technology Pathologist (All Genders)

Are you an experienced Pathologist with expertise in biomarkers and assay technologies? Bayer is seeking a dedicated professional like you to become an integral part of our Clinical Development Operations team. As an Assay Technology Pathologist, you will contribute to our mission of "Science for a Better Future" by applying your knowledge to shape healthcare advancements and positively impact patient outcomes globally. YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze tissue samples using technologies like H&E, IHC, ISH, RNAScope across therapeutic areas including oncology, inflammation, immunology, and cell and gene therapy, in research and clinical (GCP) settings.
  • Perform evaluations of H&E-stained tumor slides for macrodissection to facilitate molecular analyses.
  • Maintain quality control for tissue samples and staining, coordinating with internal and external groups.
  • Serve as an expert in histopathology technologies, especially IHC, mIF, and ISH/RNAscope, assisting in developing and validating new assays for clinical trials.
  • Help establish and validate automated assays, focusing on image analysis and tissue processing protocols.
  • Build relationships with academic institutions, CROs, diagnostic companies, and industry associations, providing insights on advanced technologies.
  • Collaborate with project and strategy teams to ensure alignment and effective teamwork.

  • You hold an M.D. degree in Pathology.
  • You have a strong background in research/clinical development, especially in biomarker initiatives, within the pharmaceutical, diagnostic, or biotech sectors.
  • You have a solid foundation in cancer biology and/or immunology.
  • You are proficient in histopathology techniques (e.g., IHC, ISH, macro-/microdissection, imaging analysis) and have experience in assay development, validation, and creating image analysis algorithms.
  • You are experienced in implementing complex in vitro diagnostic assays for clinical trials and sample handling.
  • You possess an advanced understanding of pathophysiology and oncology therapies, emphasizing translational sciences and biomarkers (additional disease areas are a plus).
  • You are familiar with regulations like IVDR, CAP/CLIA.
  • You have a strong scientific reputation, publications, a network in academic and clinical circles, and excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
  • You are fluent in English (spoken and written); German skills are advantageous.
