As a Software Engineer at Zalando Payments, you will build and operate systems that handle payment transactions. Together with other engineers in the Payment Transactions & Steering (PTMS) team, you will ensure that our services operate smoothly and reliably at each processing step, from authentication to settlement. You will drive new feature implementation, contribute to process improvements, and bring new ideas and technologies to the team.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of microservice architecture, REST services, event-based systems, and API design for scalable solutions.
• At least 3 years of experience developing with Java and Spring Boot framework.
• Good understanding of SQL (preferably PostgreSQL) and cloud architectures/platforms; prior experience with AWS is a plus.
• Familiarity with financial regulations (e.g., ZAIT, DORA, PSD2) to ensure a safe and convenient payment experience.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage projects with dependencies.
• Willingness to collaborate with the team, incorporate feedback, and accept that final designs may differ from initial ideas.
