Project Overview

The vacancy is funded as part of the DFG priority program AUDICTIVE (www.spp2236-audictive.de). The project will be carried out in collaboration with other high-class university partners in Germany.

Research Group

The Audiovisual Technology Group (www.tu-ilmenau.de/mt-avt) at the Institute of Media Technology is an international, interdisciplinary university research team focusing on auditory, visual, and audiovisual technology and perception, AR/VR/MR, multimedia networks, Quality of Experience, and HCI. Our work ranges from fundamental to applied research, in collaboration with industry partners. The AVT group is part of the I3TC (Ilmenau Interactive Immersive Technologies Center, www.tu-ilmenau.de/i3tc).

Your Job Tasks

1. Investigate audiovisual perception and cognition in XR environments, focusing on scene analysis and speech perception in multi-person audiovisual scenes.
2. Analyze how scene complexity interacts with human information processing and how this may vary across different age groups.
3. Record (360° video), design (Unity-based environments), and analyze audiovisual scenes and perception methods.
4. Assess the quality of XR technology settings based on research findings.

Your Profile

To be considered, you need:

• Master's or equivalent degree in media informatics, media technology, computer science, neuroinformatics, HCI, or related fields.
• Practical experience in at least three of the following: multimedia technology, signal processing, voice communication, empirical study evaluation.
• Proficiency in Unity or Unreal Engine, and knowledge of C#, Python, C/C++, R, ffmpeg, Blender.
• Fluent in English and German, with C1/C2 level proficiency in German required.

Desirable Skills

• Interest in interdisciplinary technology-human topics.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and independent work skills.
• Knowledge in pattern recognition, machine learning, perception, or cognition modeling is a plus.
