Development and Calibration Engineer, Alzenau

Based in Alzenau, near Frankfurt/M. in Germany, Hyundai Motorsport GmbH is responsible for Hyundai's global motorsport activities.

We are currently looking for a creative Development and Calibration Engineer working within the Testing and Simulation Team. You will be involved in powertrain system thermo-fluids modelling and performance analysis to help us produce a world-class product that will give a competitive advantage.

Main tasks
  • Responsibility for powertrain calibration at the test bench and, if required, race track
  • Definition of test procedures for every new powertrain item, software or hardware related; oversight of the realization of the tests
  • Optimization of engine calibration and strategies to ensure maximum performance and reliability
  • Providing innovative solutions to real engineering issues that directly benefit our product
  • Being part of a team, but fully responsible for concept evaluation and analysis
  • High level of interaction with the development of our end products
  • Autonomy to create and validate novel engineering solutions
  • Opportunity to create robust and versatile models and work with highly skilled engineers to solve complex problems
  • Honing your engineering skills to stretch your capabilities, knowledge, and scope
Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering subject, with a higher degree involving ICE
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in high-performance or motorsport powertrain
  • Experience with hybrid powertrains is beneficial
  • Good knowledge and experience with state-of-the-art TC-DI engine development, focusing on powertrain test bench calibration and development
  • Knowledge of operating modern automated test equipment
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages
  • Strong practical skills with good manual dexterity
  • Formula SAE experience highly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge in ICE/powertrain testing and metrology
  • Understanding of internal combustion engine and powertrain fundamentals
  • Experience with test bench automation, combustion analysis, CAN bus architecture
  • Competence in data post-processing tools (Wintax, ATLAS, etc.)
  • Proficiency in English and German (or willingness to learn) is a plus
