Business Development Manager (BDM) Industry
My client is looking for a full-time BDM to join our European Team in the Nuremberg area, for their Industry Sales Division, focusing on the German Industrial market.
- Expand the existing business within defined Industry Accounts
- Prospect actively for new business development opportunities with prospective / new customers.
Main responsibilities (but not limited to)
- Establish sales target plans, midterm, yearly and monthly, by customer, by sales team
- Develop a sales strategy and sales activities for the responsible target customers
- Establish an action plan to achieve the target(s)
- Analyse results versus budget / target and initiate corrective action plans
- Develop new business based on the action plan
- Develop and follow-up on new and existing projects
- Negotiate commercial contracts including all conditions such as pricing, payment terms, etc.
- Negotiate legal documents such as NDAs with customers and prospects
- Support the Finance department in collecting outstanding receivables
- Support the Quality Control department in communicating quickly and adequately in case of quality issues or other complaints
- Support the Marketing team in collecting necessary customer and market data
- Train, support, and work closely with the Inside Sales team
- Perform all necessary communication and correspondence with customers
- Manage communication outside the area of responsibility with other HRS offices and customers as required
- Maintain ongoing communication with Head-quarters
- Coordinate transfer business outside the area of responsibility with the transfer-in location
- Prepare various reports, such as customer visit reports, monthly sales reports, 3-month rolling forecast, and project updates
- Report regularly to the Industry Sales Manager or as requested
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or similar / equivalent, preferably with business management experience
- Minimum 5 years of Business Development experience in the Industry sector for a supplier or manufacturer
- Or, at least 5 years of experience in Business Development of connector and/or electromechanical products
Additional Skills and Attributes
- Significant experience in the Industry business
- Strong capability for business planning, project management, and forecast control
- Ability to develop and utilize promotional tools and materials
- Willingness to travel frequently within Germany and to European headquarters
- Fluency in English and German; additional European languages are a plus
- Technical knowledge to understand detailed technical aspects
- Negotiation skills, self-starter attitude, and a strong closer
- Ability to manage complex, time-intensive sales cycles
- Leadership and coordination skills for cross-functional teams
- Stress resilience and a structured personality
- Pan-European and international orientation
