Position Announcement: Research Associate / PhD Student (m/f/x)

At the Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry, the Chair of Inorganic Molecular Chemistry, we offer a position as Research Associate / PhD Student (m/f/x), subject to personal qualification. Employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L.

The position is available starting at the earliest possible date in a DFG-funded project titled “Blueprint for a modern sustainable phosphorus chemistry”. It comprises 50% of the full-time weekly hours, with the possibility to increase to 65%. The employment is limited to 36 months and is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). This role offers the opportunity to pursue further academic qualification, typically a PhD.

Activities and Responsibilities
  1. Synthesis and development of alternative, greener synthesis routes for phosphorus fine chemicals.
  2. Exploration of novel phosphorus compounds.
  3. Characterization of products and intermediates using spectroscopic methods such as NMR, UV-Vis, IR/Raman, mass spectrometry, and X-ray structure determination.
Qualification Profile
  • University degree (Master or equivalent) in chemistry.
  • Background in organic or inorganic molecular chemistry.
  • Team-oriented and cooperative personality.
  • Experience with inert gas techniques.
  • Knowledge of analytical methods for molecular chemistry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and chemical software.
  • Ability to confidently present scientific results in English and preferably in German.
