Job Description:

Critical Facility Carpentry Technician II

The Critical Facility Carpentry Technician will join our Facilities Engineering Operations & Maintenance (O&M) program. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in both critical facilities maintenance and carpentry, along with a strong background in construction surveillance. This role involves supporting the maintenance and operation of critical facilities while utilizing carpentry skills for repair and improvement projects. Responsibilities include installing doors and constructing walls within critical facilities on military bases, employing specialized construction knowledge to meet strict military standards, contributing to the operational readiness and security of military installations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on critical facilities, including wood and metal doors, locks, windows, wall framing, painting, tiling, and flooring.
• Maintain door hardware, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting mechanical and electromechanical devices.
• Test, adjust, and troubleshoot door operations and alignment.
• Perform ancillary carpentry work related to door and window openings.
• Construct or modify building partitions and ceilings for door installation.
• Demolish and prepare openings for fire-rated and sound-rated doors.
• Install new frames, doors, and hardware.
• Coordinate with electricians for door control programming and automatic door operators.
• Install and repair flooring, ceilings, and non-load bearing walls to meet sound transfer requirements.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED with at least six (6) years of experience.
• HVAC technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
• Top Secret Clearance required.

Abilities:

• Lift at least 100 pounds at once and 60 pounds for extended periods.
• Handle ladders and work at heights up to 60 feet, including scaffolds and lifts.
• Perform physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, crawling, and reaching.
• Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, and hearing ability.
• Recognize potential problems and apply general rules to solve specific issues.
• See details at close range and communicate effectively in English.
