We are seeking local-based Shipping & Loading Inspectors on a freelance basis for ad hoc inspections at manufacturers in Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Rotterdam, and Antwerpen.

1. Scope:

Perform all assigned inspection tasks competently and timely according to instructions.

2. Internal and External Relations:

• Internal: Operations Manager, Coordinators, Technical Manager
• External: Suppliers, Clients

3. Tasks:

• Review inspection instructions for adequacy and practicality.
• Attend pre-production and other relevant meetings.
• Coordinate with clients and other stakeholders on inspection stages and requirements.
• Inspect drawings, designs, and specifications for piping, valves, pressure vessels, and other mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and procedures.
• Visit manufacturers, suppliers, and installers to perform or witness inspections.
• Provide timely reports of inspections conducted or witnessed.
• Ensure all activities comply with Intertek's work instructions and procedures.
• Utilize new technologies such as e-reporting, Remote Video Inspection, and Evolution systems.

4. Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum of 5 years' experience with manufacturers or constructors of relevant products or materials, covering manufacturing and inspection processes. Educational qualifications may include:

• University degree
• National Higher Education
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent

In absence of such qualifications, experience should be at least 10 years.

• Valid Driver’s License
• Proficiency in English

Preferred qualifications for mechanical inspection include:

• European Welding Engineer or equivalent (CSWIP, CWI, AWS)
• ISO 9712 or ASNT certifications
• NACE CIP Level 2 or FROSIO
• ISO 9001 Internal or Lead Auditor

Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment:

Be familiar with company policies on OHS and environmental regulations. Ensure proper implementation, incident investigation, and compliance with site-specific policies and legislative requirements.
