DS Smith is a leading provider of sustainable fibre-based packaging worldwide, supported by recycling and papermaking operations. We play a central role in the value chain across sectors including e-commerce, fast-moving consumer goods, and industrials.

About the role

As a Global Key Account Manager, you will lead, develop, win, and maintain business with strategic automotive accounts, achieving key sales KPIs and account plan targets.

You will play a leading role in creating, implementing, and driving the key accounts strategy for the key divisional customers within the customer base and across DS Smith.

Your remit will include but not limited to :
  1. Proactively manage the account to retain incumbent business and prevent sales leakage;
  2. Win tenders on incumbent business, deliver and align tender strategies, collaborating with stakeholders in sales, finance, marketing, ventures, legal, etc.;
  3. Win new business in new segments and develop new value-added offers within the CBU’s key customers and their segments;
  4. Execute on new wins by nurturing the account, delivering innovative solutions, and embedding DS Smith in the account for long-term growth;
  5. Manage the division's key account plan and profitability of the key accounts;
  6. Ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty, improve customer experience, and identify opportunities in the customers' supply chain to enhance efficiency and reduce costs through innovative solutions.
About you
  1. Qualified to degree level (or equivalent experience);
  2. Strong business acumen, commercial experience, and proven results in driving sales growth and managing account strategies at a divisional level;
  3. Ability to navigate a complex global matrix environment;
  4. Proven ability to analyze financial data and initiate strategic actions;
  5. Resilient, entrepreneurial, persuasive change agent with effective communication, networking, and stakeholder management skills;
  6. Fluent in written and spoken German and English; additional European languages are advantageous;
  7. Previous experience in the packaging industry is preferred but not required.

Remote, based in Germany; approximately 40% travel
