Position Location

This position is located at the School Age Center, in Ansbach, Germany.

This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies throughout the program. Management has the right to assign staff to locations as mission requires.

Duties
  • Serves as a Child and Youth Services (CYS) Assistant Director of a CYS Program with responsibility for assisting the supervisor in the operation of an assigned CYS program in accordance with all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Provides program oversight and accountability for the performance of assigned staff and the safety and well-being of children and youth, in accordance with DoD, Army, and local policies and standards.
  • Assists in maintaining DoD/Army certification for assigned program areas, and helps ensure the program achieves and retains national accreditation or Army equivalent standards.
  • Provides appropriate staff professional recognition and/or disciplinary action. Conducts written observations of staff during all hours of operation, and evaluates employees based on established performance standards.
  • Works cooperatively with other CYS Managers to ensure seamless service and continuity of quality options for all children and youth. Serves as a member of the CYS Program Plan Team to develop written strategies for program improvement.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of appointment or placement into the position.
  • Proof of education is required at the time of application.
  • Must have a current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current Army and DoD policy, including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • Satisfactory performance, successful completion of training requirements, and demonstrated on-the-job competency are required. Travel to on and off post locations may be required.
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.

  • Applicants must have registered with Selective Service if required; failure to do so disqualifies the applicant.
  • Appointment is subject to a favorable suitability determination.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Travel to on and off post locations may be required.
  • Satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks, including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation and the Crime Control Act, is mandatory.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following educational and experience criteria:

Option 1:

Successful completion of a 4-year college or university degree in a field related to CYS, such as child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or related behavioral sciences.

Experience involving teaching children or other relevant work demonstrating ability to perform the duties of the position.

Ability to select, train, and supervise childcare and preschool staff, develop and implement child development programs, and plan and organize work.

Excellent oral, communication, and analytical writing skills.

Option 2:

At least 24 semester hours in a relevant field, plus appropriate work experience demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Three months of directly related work experience teaching children or similar work at a lower grade or level.

Ability to develop and implement child development programs, plan and organize work, and communicate effectively.
