About the team
At E.ON, data capabilities are split into two pillars: “data as an asset to innovation” and “data usages such as AI and data analytics”. Both capabilities are organized into separate units. You, as a Technical Data Governance Manager, will focus on the pillar “data as an asset to innovation” and design and implement data governance & management capabilities across various digital technologies, platforms, and business units to support our data strategy. You will define and operationalize processes that support data governance and compliance, and enhance the organization’s capabilities to manage data assets throughout their lifecycle.
You will be part of the central Data Architecture & Governance team, collaborating closely with data and technical teams, and key stakeholders at central and business unit levels across Europe. You will also support multiple business units on their data governance and strategy journeys.
Meaningful & Challenging - Your Tasks
- Design, embed, operate, and scale data governance processes across various data programs, systems, and digital innovations within the group.
- Automate documentation of metadata, complex ETL processes, and compliance requirements within a dedicated data catalog.
- Gather compliance and business requirements, coordinate task forces, and provide guidance.
- Develop and roll out the central data governance framework, including roles and responsibilities.
- Contribute to data strategy and support its implementation from a technical perspective.
- Support upskilling and knowledge sharing on data governance across the group.
- Define and operationalize sub-strategies for data management & governance.
- Research industry trends and identify data-driven innovation opportunities.
Authentic & Ambitious - Your Profile
- Bachelor/Master in data engineering, data modeling, informatics, data science, economics, or related field.
- Multiple years of experience in project management, data engineering, and operationalization of data governance roles and processes.
- Strong understanding of data management, governance, strategy, and architecture tools (e.g., Collibra, SAP MDM), data lake architecture (e.g., Azure Data Lake), and programming languages (e.g., SQL).
- Knowledge of metadata management, database scanning, firewalls, reporting tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik).
- Experience in building enterprise glossaries and implementing data ownership & stewardship in data catalogs.
- Extensive experience managing large-scale data projects in regulated, fast-changing industries.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to simplify complex data concepts for diverse audiences.
- Ability to connect legal obligations with organizational and technical implications.
