Role Overview

The data platform at Omio is central to our organization, facilitating business insights and interdepartmental communication. Handling large event volumes, data from over 1,000 travel providers, and various third parties, we focus on consolidating, aggregating, and standardizing data for rapid delivery to our teams, customers, and partners.

The Head of Data Architecture and Engineering is a strategic leadership role responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, warehouses, lake houses, and ensuring data quality and governance. You will lead a team of engineers and architects, working closely with the VP of Data and Analytics to execute our data strategy, with more than 50% of your time dedicated to hands-on technical work.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead the architecture and engineering team, managing workload, performance, and professional development.
2. Design and develop scalable data models to establish a single source of truth.
3. Implement governance processes for access control and master data management.
4. Oversee data pipelines and quality infrastructure, ensuring high accuracy and low latency.
5. Collaborate with data providers and consumers to strengthen relationships and data integration.
6. Define non-functional requirements with Analytics Engineers for data products.
7. Manage GCP environment, monitoring usage and costs.
8. Stay informed on emerging trends and technologies, providing thought leadership.
9. Maintain the data tool stack for optimal productivity and developer experience.

Ideal Candidate Profile

1. Extensive experience delivering complex data architectures within GCP.
2. Deep knowledge of relational and non-relational data modeling approaches.
3. Understanding of working with large, volatile, heterogeneous datasets.
4. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and build consensus.
5. Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
6. Strong team player with excellent stakeholder management skills.
7. Solution-oriented problem solver.
8. Proficient with key technologies: GCP (BigQuery, Looker, Airflow, dbt, Docker, SQL, Python, Terraform).
9. Experience with large-scale data processing technologies like Apache Spark, and proficiency in Scala, Java, or Python.
