Your Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Partner Account Manager with a strong track record of achieving objectives. You will be results-oriented and a creative value-builder responsible for driving growth through System Integrators, indirect Value-Added Resellers and Distributors (VAR & VAD), and Solution Provider partner channels.

You will regularly interact with existing partner executives and demonstrate a strong direct sales mindset, supporting partners on relationship management with key accounts and leveraging your personal network to bring new sales opportunities.

Your Responsibilities
  • Build lasting relationships with partners and increase spend with Ciena
  • Plan sales strategies and collaborate with marketing to raise awareness of Ciena and build a strong pipeline
  • Ensure that sales targets are achieved
  • Advise partners on network solutions and services that best meet their customer needs, conducting full assessments and analysis of client requirements
  • Align Ciena’s portfolio within partner services and ensure partner sales teams are knowledgeable about positioning and benefits
  • Negotiate pricing with partners to achieve sales aligned with Ciena’s pricing policies and client needs
  • Conduct face-to-face channel meetings with partners and their clients
  • Manage internal resources and coordinate with internal departments
  • Achieve personal and career development goals in line with Ciena’s growth programs
  • Forecast sales accurately and report activities regularly
  • Participate in planning and executing marketing campaigns, including targeted campaigns
  • Attend networking events
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively across all levels of a partner’s organization
  • Ability to collaborate with multifunctional teams such as Systems Engineers, Sales, Marketing, and Operations
  • Strong partner-facing and relationship-building skills
  • Native or bilingual German speaker
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to work independently
  • Trusted individual maintaining high standards for self and teams
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Experience of 3-5 years in Sales and Partner Sales in Enterprise and Service Provider markets, focusing on Optical and IP Ethernet business
  • Ability to analyze customer requirements
  • Ability to engage at senior levels of partner companies
  • Interest or knowledge in the Telecom Industry
