Job Description

AbbVie’s Finance Development Program (FDP) consists of four rotations over two years to prepare you for financial management roles. The roles are crafted to help you develop exceptional functional and leadership traits by working on a wide range of projects, while providing exposure to different leaders in the company. This will develop you and put you on the fast track to future finance leadership opportunities at AbbVie.

You will have the opportunity to work within four different departments for two years, each for six months. During the first year, you will support both Operations Controlling in Ludwigshafen and Commercial Affiliate FP&A (Financial Planning and Analysis) in Wiesbaden. In the second year, you will have the chance to explore two further functional areas within Europe, one of which will be in our Finance Shared Service Center in Krakow, Poland. Based on business needs, the fourth rotation can be carried out in area functions such as Commercial Affiliate, Treasury, Regional Headquarter, or Area Corporate Financial Planning in one of our European locations.

You will gain experience by working in a cross-functional matrix environment, building your business acumen, and participating in key training sessions. Additionally, each FDP trainee is assigned a senior leader mentor as an advocate and coach throughout your time in the program.

During the 2 years, you will also participate in several international meetings virtually or in Europe (European Finance Director meeting, Alumni FDP meeting, Steering committee, coffee chats with senior leaders in Europe and the US, etc.).

At the end of the 4th rotation, you will travel for 2 weeks to the Chicago area at AbbVie's headquarters to gain experience in a global function and network with senior leadership and global teams.

You can expect to complete four professional work assignments in roles such as:

  • Financial Accounting & Analysis
  • Budgets, Plans, Forecasting
  • Financial Reporting & Controls
  • Manufacturing Operations/Cost Accounting
  • Treasury

Placements will be based on business needs and are subject to change. The position is limited to a maximum of 2 years, with the objective of securing a role in one of the European locations afterward.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a master’s degree in finance or accounting-related discipline, with strong academic performance in relevant coursework
  • Willingness to undertake two six-month rotations outside your home country
  • At least one internship in finance and accounting
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and project management skills, demonstrated through leadership roles in school or student organizations
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Data Analytics
