Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Graduation from a certified Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Technician program.
Certification: Must have a Phlebotomist or Medical Laboratory Technician Certification from a nationally recognized entity (e.g. AMT, ASCP). Certification must be current, active, and valid for the duration of the contract.
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience within the last three years routinely practicing as Laboratory Technician / Phlebotomist to include six (6) months full time (or equivalent) working experience in a medical environment involving phlebotomy, patient reception, and related clerical duties. Experience in Blood Donor Center activities preferred.
Must have ability to collect venipuncture and capillary specimens in periods of heavy demand.
Must have knowledge and understanding of infection control and aseptic technique.
A phlebotomy certification by a nationally recognized agency or experience in whole blood collections is preferred.
Laboratory Technician / Phlebotomist shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other Laboratory Technician / Phlebotomists.
Required Training: Life support training. The Contractor employee shall possess and maintain current course completion documentation for Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) through an American Heart Association and/or Red Cross approved training program. The contract HCPs are responsible for maintaining these certifications in a current status at all times while performing services under this contract.

The quality of Contractor practice shall meet or exceed reasonable standards of professional practice for the health care concerned as determined by the same authority that governs military medical professionals in the same discipline.
