Finance Director – Insurance

€130,000 – €180,000 + bonus

We are delighted to be partnering with a high-growth, private equity-backed insurance business on the appointment of a Finance Director based in Hamburg. This is a rare opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-scaling organisation that is transforming the insurance landscape across Europe.

The group has seen impressive growth both organically and through acquisition, and now requires a commercially minded and technically sound Finance Director to help steer the next stage of its journey. This is a pivotal role within the senior leadership team, offering broad exposure across the business and the opportunity to make a significant strategic impact.

Working closely with the CFO and key stakeholders, the successful candidate will take ownership of the full finance function, from day-to-day operations to long-term financial planning and M&A integration. The role is well-suited to someone excited by the pace and complexity of a PE-backed environment, and keen to play a hands-on role in driving value creation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading and developing the finance team to ensure high-quality financial reporting, planning, and control.
• Overseeing monthly and annual closing processes, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local German GAAP.
• Managing budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling to support business decision-making.
• Providing robust financial insight and challenge to the executive team on performance, risks, and opportunities.
• Partnering with operational leaders to drive margin improvement and efficiency across the business.
• Supporting the CFO with investor reporting and board presentations, including PE-related analysis.
• Playing a key role in acquisition due diligence, post-deal integration, and process optimisation.
• Continuously improving financial systems and controls as the business scales.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Holding an accounting qualification would be advantageous.
• Previous experience in insurance or financial services would be necessary.
• Exposure to a PE-backed or high-growth business environment is desirable.
• Proven track record of leading a finance function and delivering operational and strategic insight.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to influence at senior levels.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with shifting priorities.
• Working proficient level in both English and German.
