Job Description

We're looking for an experienced software engineer to lead the infrastructure efforts of secunet's Software Factory.

The Software Factory is secunet's innovation program, designed to provide the technical means to develop entirely new product classes. It consists of a team of highly motivated software engineers focused on cutting-edge, security-focused shared components, and a DevSecOps platform that supports the entire lifecycle of our products. This is a dynamic and evolving team, offering exciting challenges and opportunities for growth.

This position combines both software and systems engineering to build and run IT infrastructure. You will monitor the capacity and performance of our systems, ensuring reliable operation and appropriate uptime. We value fast and incremental improvements. Your efforts will focus on building infrastructure, optimizing systems, and automating workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain, extend, and improve our infrastructure continuously
• Ensure solid observability across all services (visualization, alerting, log aggregation)
• Design, build, and own Nix build infrastructure
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners
• Liaise with secunet's internal IT to align strategies
• Document your work for users and developers
• Ensure the security of our services using modern technologies

Requirements:

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Expertise in architecting and operating on-premises deployments
• Extensive experience with the NixOS ecosystem
• Know-how in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
• Proven open-source contribution skills
• Programming experience in Rust, Python, Go, or similar
• Ability to work autonomously and coordinate with broader teams

Bonus points:

• Familiarity with the German language is an advantage but not required
